The Scranton Animal Control is responsible for protecting lost and injured animals as well as protecting the public from animal-carried diseases. The Animal Control Officer responds to animal- related calls for service from citizens of the City of Scranton. The ACO works very close with the Scranton Police Department and the Humane Society of Lackawanna County.
Animal Control Officers duties include:
- Enforcement of city and state laws that pertain to animals.
- Investigate animal cruelty.
- Investigate attacks and bites from animals.
- Respond to emergencies involving sick or injured animals.
- Remove stray animals from the streets.
The Animal Control Officer works Monday-Friday from 10:00am-6:00pm.
